Today we could check off some more things from our checklist we'd wanted to learn about:
Another thing we accomplished today was writing a blog post for the official RGSoC blog. It's a small summary of our Summer of Code so far. We're sure you'll like it :)
- Duck typing! Which basically means, that if you have an object, Ruby is not so much concerned with its kind of type (class). As long as it responds to a given method, everything is fine, or in other words: as long as it quacks like a duck, treat it like duck! That way, Ruby is very programmer friendly (in contrast to, say, Swift, which is faster at finding stuff in the memory but bothers the programmer with restrictions).
- Sleep! Not human sleep, but code sleep. It just puts your program to sleep for some seconds and then continues to do what it does. Useful if you e.g. would like to rescue from a failing login, retrying not immediately but rather after 1 or 2 seconds.
